We leave our hotel early and set out for Lloa, a village close to Quito.

After a steady climb out of the city we reach Lloa with its magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. Flecked with clouds and pierced by the first rays of the morning sun, this is the ideal time to capture the stunning countryside and the natural beauty of the Avenue of the Volcanoes.

We then set off for the defiles of Guagua Pichincha volcano to appreciate the fumaroles close up and listen to an explanation of their origin, before embarking on a walk around the volcano.

Upon completing the circuit, we stop for a welcome and hearty picnic and enjoy a brief rest.

Continuing our descent, we visit the stone menhirs, sculptured rocks used as energy channels and located throughout the city of Quito. The first menhir on our itinerary is in Chillogallo, followed by Santa Anita and then El Panecillo where we enjoy lunch in Pim's Restaurant with its spectacular panoramic view of the city.

After lunch, we continue our journey to the Plaza Grande where we stop off at the fourth menhir located in one of the city’s major plazas.

We finish our day with a trip to the Observatory located in Alameda Park, the first in America to be equipped with the apparatus and instruments of the Geodetic Survey Mission to Ecuador.Return to Hotel.
